How to Add Subtitles to YouTube Videos


Adding subtitles and captions to your YouTube video broadens its reach to a larger audience. Also, adding captions means you’re considering viewers who are deaf/hard of hearing and who speak other languages. YouTube includes both translation and auto-generated captions on its platform.

Here’s what you need to know about adding captions and subtitles to YouTube videos

A has four different options for adding subtitles YouTube Videos You can either upload a pre-written file or use auto-sync or manually type or use auto-translate.

Adding subtitles by uploading a file

– Sign in to your YouTube account and go to YouTube Studio on the desktop

– Select subtitles From the left sidebar

– Click on the video you want to edit or add subtitles

– Now, choose Add a languagee and select your preferred language

– Click on Add under subtitles and then select Upload files

– YouTube allows you to choose with time Or Without time

– Now, choose continue and select the file you want to upload

– Click on Save the draft And then Publish

Adding subtitles via auto-sync

– go YouTube Studio and login

– Select subtitles From the left sidebar

– Select the video you want to edit and click on it Adv located under subheadings

– Select Auto-sync And type the typescript of your video

– Click on three dots Select Edit Time and Upload File

– After adding the passage, select Edit times and click Save and close

Adding subtitles manually

– go YouTube Studio and select subtitles

– Select the video, then click Add under subtitles

– Select Type manually

– Type captions for your video while playing the video back and forth to adjust the timing. don’t forget Add a tag such as clapping or text thunder.

– Select Publish Upon completion

Adding subtitles using auto-translation

It should be noted that this feature is currently limited to only 13 languages. These are Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese.

– Log in to your account and go to YouTube Studio

– Select subtitles And then select the video you want to add subtitles to

– Click on three dots Under the subtitles

– Review Auto Caption and edit/remove auto-caption sections as required
