Reasons behind RCB’s defeat against RR in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2022

IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced off in the second qualifier 2 match of the IPL on Friday night. In this match, Rajasthan defeated RCB by 7 wickets. RCB scored 157 runs in the first innings thanks to a performance by Rajat Patidar (58). In reply, Rajasthan won the match by 7 wickets in just 18.1 overs on the strength of Jose Butler’s brilliant century. Find out what were the main reasons for RCB’s defeat in this match.

1. Loss of coin toss: This was the first major reason for RCB’s defeat. Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first. His decision was the right one. The bowlers got help in the first innings on the pitch of Narendra Modi Stadium but it could not happen in the second innings. After the match, captain Sanju Samson himself said that winning the toss was good for him as the pitch was helping the fast bowlers in the first innings but his attitude changed completely in the second innings.

2. No batsman played except Rajat Patidar: Flop batting was another major reason for RCB’s defeat. Third-order batsman Rajat Patidar hit a half-century here but no other batsman has played without him. Glenn Maxwell made a quick contribution with a quick 24 off 13 balls, but RCB’s wickets plummeted after he was dismissed. Mahipal, Dinesh Karthik, Vanindu, Hershal could not even touch the number ten. Earlier, Kohli also returned to the pavilion with just seven runs and Du Plessis played a very slow 25 off 27 balls.

3. RCB bowlers could not stop Jose Butler: After the low score, RCB should have sent Rajasthan runner-up Jose Butler to the pavilion early but it did not happen. Butler rained runs from start to finish. He single-handedly said that there was no need for other batsmen. RCB bowlers completely failed to stop Butler. A leading bowler like Siraj did not complete even 4 overs. He scored 31 runs in 2 overs. Shahbad Ahmed also scored 35 runs in 2 overs.
